ugh.

15 01 2008

so right now congress is meeting about steroids in baseball (again). In a time in America where there are wars and elections going on, I cant understand why our government is worried about baseball players admitting to cheating. I mean…arent there alot heavier things going down right now that they can direct their attention to? All the negativity of this is starting to really turning me off to a game that i have always loved.

But today i read an article that made even more sick. I just heard that there is a sprinter from south africa who has prosthetic legs has been officially banned from the olympics for not having natural legs. I mean how can a guy who was born without legs and has worked so hard to find a way to still compete with such a disadvantage be told that his fake legs give him an advantage over someone with real, natural, strong legs. So while medals and records are being stripped, and people are going to jail for cheating…others who have overcome the most adversity and beaten incredible odds are not even getting the chance to compete. Go figure. There are so many things that are wrong in sports today.

On a better not…My pens are hot right now…tune in.

07

2 01 2008

07…good year. Here is my personal top ten memories of 2007.

10.Sid The Kid (Sidney Crosby) became the youngest player in N.H.L. history to do pretty much everything…including a scoring title this past season.

9.Radio Debut…Thats right…me and the old man were guests on the 5 o’clock drive time show on word f.m. in Pittsburgh.

8.Meeting Young Posh. Thats right…Posh and I hit it off. Cutest most misbehaved puppy of all time.

7.Softball Dynasty. I think we won close to ten games this year. Had a great summer with those guys, and I cant wait for the upcoming season.

6.Church Progress. In my first full year in full time ministry our church saw significant growth in alot of areas, and we able to finish our building project. Our church is sweeeeet.

5.Roo mans up…One of my best friends decided after the longest dating relationship ever that it was time to get engaged. I cant wait for August 16th…Bout time Ruben.

4.Bill Cowher out…Mike Tomlin in…After 14 awesome years as coach of the Steelers, Coach Cowher stepped aside. A super bowl, and 5 A.F.C. championship appearances should get him in the Hall.

3.Holidays with the Fam…Been awhile since i was with the fam all at one time. We had a great time…nothin but chillin, shoppin, grubbin…it was a great week.

2.Overachieving Football Season…After my team won a championship in 06 we lost all of our guys. But this year we had a young team, and the Penn Hills Bantams went 7-4 and lost a heartbreaker in the championship to our arch rival Plum…But we had a great year, and I cant wait to get back to coaching this fall.

1.Lift Camp/Rock Camp…Our students had a blast this summer at camp. It was an awesome thing being a part of changed lives. I was so proud of them. I cant wait to watch em grow this year.

2008 is gonna be an awesome year. Thats a fact.

last night.

21 12 2007

Last night was good and bad. The bad news…Fast Willie Parker has a broken leg and now will not have the NFL rushing title this year. The good news is that the Steelers are going to the playoffs. May be a long shot once we get there, but we are there atleast. The other good news…our man Sid the Kid finally became a man last night. http://youtube.com/watch?v=4ACPLpY4u1s . Check it out. Were all so proud. Ha. But to top it all off is the bad news…”Mr. Jones” came in at a very dissapointing 29. 29? Are you kidding me? Thats a joke. But Ill get over it.

Other than the exciting night last night i have still put off alot of my Christmas shopping. Im hoping to fit that in sometime this weekend between being busy at Church and everything else. It is finally starting to feel like Christmas time, and I have tons to do. I hope everybody is well, and has a great weekend.

VH1

19 12 2007

So the last couple of nights I have been watching the VH1 speacial…”Top 100 songs of the 90s”. I remember catching the a little bit of the best of the 80s and 70s, but this time I was actually old enough to say…”oh yeah…that song”. Ha….Im not quite sure if this is a cool thing, or a warning that I really am beginning to get a little older. I mean when I watched the 70s and the 80s i was shocked that people really dressed like that and actually enjoyed that kind of music. I kind of hope that this generation doesnt think the same thing about the best of the 90s. But anyways…I will be watching and waiting for “Mr. Jones” to get that number one spot.

Otherwise…I have been dog sitting for a friend of mine who went away for Christmas. I had met this dog in the past, and it was a pretty friendly dog. However when we met face to face for the first time in awhile the other day…”Lady” was a different dog. Lady met me with violent “grrrrs” and eventually a firm grip on my pant leg. After a couple minutes of dog vs. man grappling i emerged victorious and Lady learned that I was going to be in control from here on out. Lady and I have since looked past the rough start, and just this morning she greeted me with a nice lick on my nose and immediatle dropped and rolled to her back for her tummy to be rubbed. With that in mind I am so glad that I am on top of my game with the puppies right now being that my my brother is bringing my favorite puppy posh for a visit next week. Maybe her and Lady can hang out.

weekend

18 12 2007

What a weekend. So i dont think i have had a night like friday night since i was like 8 years old. I dont mean that to be a good thing. Im not talking about hanging out with my friends playing nintendo and eating candy all night. Im talking about the up all night being sick night. ugh…It was awful.Luckily i was able to recover in time for Sunday, but i was still a little miserable. And to cap it off, my Steelers took another loss. Not good at all. Its never good when a team gets worse. We should always be trying to get better, shouldn’t we? It made me think about where i am and where the people around me that i have the opportunity to influence are in our relationships with Christ…Are we constantly getting better? That is something that sounds so simple, but we should strive for everyday in our life…to get better.

3

13 12 2007

3…one of my favorite numbers. The number of Dale Earnhart, Jeff Reed, and one of my all time favorites…the great Gerry Macnamara. I love that guy. O well. It also marks my third straight day of blogging which sends a hush to you haters. Off to a good start.

The weather here today…sucks. Freezing rain all day while i see that the weather in the northeast is getting all of the snow. im pretty jealous. I love snow. Just in the office today…pens game tonight.

But the big news of the day will come at 2 p.m. I am assuming that there will be alot of americans just like us who are going to be let down. Major League Baseball is releasing their list of names of guys who have used steroids in the past. Im sure that my friend justin who is the biggest roger clemens fan is gooing to have a pretty rough day. Oh well. Thats just how it is. People even heros let us down all of the time. Thats life. Im glad that God is not just a “hero” or another person to us.

wednesdays

12 12 2007

i love wednesdays. even if tuesday or thursday werent as good i always know that wednesday i will be able to hang out with the students that God has put in my life. i still think that i have the best job in the world. although it is not easy sometimes, the good times always outweigh the bad.

As far as my boys…were in for a tough one at home against the jaguars this week.  Losing Aaron Smith for the season certainly doesnt help our defense. But it should be a good one. God is Love…Rev Run. (I wish i had something catchy like that).

hello

11 12 2007

I never thought i would blog. My older brother blogs, and told me to do it. But it took me reading Big Ben Roethlisberger’s blog today to let me know that it was really ok to do. Ill try to make this a priority. This should be alot of fun. Today is the day that blogging is no longer just for sissys.
